This saturday May 1, I finished my first half marathon.
Times: 27:40 5k, 56:15 10k, 1:23 15k, 1:58 finish. All of these are personal bests, except for the 5k time and the finishing time is 20 minutes better than my training times. Wow.
For training, I would take serveral breaks on the second half of the run but in the race I didn’t. Competition probably had something to do with it. I was constantly trying to catch that person just out of reach in front of me. This just goes to show that running is just as much mental as physical.
And yes, I was number 420:
I’ll be running my first half marathon in 2 days at the Snoqualmie Cinco de Mayo event.
That’s 13 miles folks. In a row. On purpose.
I’ve been training for roughly 3 months. I’ve done the distance twice with my fastest time being 2 hours and 18 minutes. I’d like to get it under 2 hours, but I don’t think it will happen without a miracle.
Weather calls for mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and about 50 degrees. I like the cloudy part but rain and cold make me nervous.
Like anything I commit to — I am all in. It’ll be me and about 900 others braving the weather and running our hearts out.
